It feels good not to pay out of pocket for nutrition care!
If you have health insurance, that's great- I accept it! Most plans provide nutrition benefits.
Alabama BCBS: I can quickly determine your nutrition benefits virtually. Most plans cover 3+ hours of nutrition per year as preventive care (a $0 cost to you), and some cover 3 additional hours as medical care (requires your typical copay).
Federal BCBS: Federal plans cover 6+ visits per year as preventive care. This is a $0 cost to you!
Other state BCBS: I am an in-network provider. I may need to call and talk to a rep to find out your benefits. Many states provide unlimited nutrition visits as preventive care. This is a $0 cost to you!
Aetna: I am an in-network provider. Most plans cover 100% of 10 visits for wellness and 16 additional visits for weight. This is a $0 cost to you! Other diagnoses aside from these are often covered after deductible and with a copay.
Ambetter: I am an in-network provider. Most plans cover 100% of 3-4 hours of nutrition per year. This is a $0 cost to you! I will call and find out your benefits.
Cigna: We are an in-network provider for most networks. Most plans cover 3 hours of nutrition per year as preventive care. This is a $0 cost to you! I will need to call and talk to a rep to find out your benefits. Many medical diagnoses have unlimited visits covered after deductible and with a copay.
United Healthcare: I am an in-network provider. Most plans cover an unlimited number of visits for weight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or similar diagnoses as part of their preventive benefits. This is a $0 cost to you!
Medicare: I am an in-network Medicare provider. With a doctor referral, Medicare only pays for diabetes and kidney disease (stages 3-4). It pays for 3 hours the first year and 2 hours subsequent years. This is a $0 cost to you!
Medicare Advantage or Dual Complete through BCBS or UHC: I am an in-network provider. If your card says "Medicare" on it along with BCBS/UHC, this applies to you. These plans only pay for the diagnoses listed above for Medicare.
Medicaid: Alabama Medicaid currently does not allow dietitians to be providers, so it will not pay for our visits. I cannot credential with Georgia since I do not have an office there.
Multiplan: I am an in network provider. I will need to contact your plan to check the specific nutrition benefits.
Tricare: I am a certified out of network provider. This does not include Tricare for Life. A pre-authorization from Tricare is required prior to visits for Tricare Prime. They typically pay for 80% of visits.
Other insurance companies: I am an out-of-network provider. I will provide you an insurance benefits check guide to call and talk to a rep to find out your benefits. You will need to pay upfront. I will provide an itemized receipt for you to submit to insurance to attempt reimbursement.
For any in-network company, I'll check your benefits if you complete your first visit paperwork on the appointments page (click button below). Checking benefits doesn't obligate you to a visit.
